Antique Vintage Dress Form, Mannequin, Tailors Dummy, Costume Display Stand

  

Here we have a super antique FEMALE DRESS FORM, MANNEQUIN or DRESS DISPLAY STAND, TAILORS DUMMY in very good antique condition. Life size torso has been lightly padded and covered in cream brocade fabric which has some staining.

It has a wooden tripod stand with a wooden pole that goes through the torso and is secured with a metal ring-clamp underneath and the top is secured through a wooden'neck' plug with a screw-in wooden finial on the top. There are some signs of woodworm to the base. The neck is marked with a'46' and there maybe a makers mark on the torso but this has been covered up. Was used for many years to display a Victorian dress and the slightly padded body allows for easy pinning up and the display of accessories without using the fabric of the dress to hold the items.
